The Padel Court Surface

When constructing a Padel Court there has to be a concrete foundation to secure the Padel enclosure to. In Many cases in the UK, the Tennis Court surface is a porous macadan (outdoor) or concrete slab (indoor). Therefore when constructing a Padel Court on existing Tennis Court there is civil engineering required on the outdoor surfaces to provide a suitable foundation for the enclosure. There will be no additional civil engineering for most indoor courts as the enclosure can be bolted to the concrete floor.

When constructing from a greenfield site we would look to create a base 20.5 x 10.5 m and this base will be made from crushed stone and 200 mm thick concrete slab, laid to a very slight fall towards the centre playing net. We would issue a specification for this work and issue a separate quotation to allow customers to source this work themselves prior to Padel Box installing the Padel facility.

Once the base is prepared, indoor or outdoor, the preferred surface for Padel Tennis is a sand dressed artificial grass carpet. We would us a 10mm dense carpet indoors and 15 mm carpet outdoors. The details of the products offered by Padel Box Ltd are seen below.

Materials used in this system

Padel Box surfaces are made with the latest products are designed for continuous use in as many sport sessions as required.

The products are protected against ultraviolet rays, dimensionally stable, and protected with the most resistant support. "Ultra Bond" is the most advanced technology in backing available.

At Padel Box we use the best materials to develop our products, and the latest technology in their manufacture. Our test machinery also uses the latest technology, and therefore we can ensure that a consistent quality standard of tuft is produced for the creation of artificial surfaces of the highest quality.

Only the highest grade polymers, pigments and stabilisers are used in our fibres. The research and development department is responsible for the quality of our products, and materials used must always meet the quality regulation ISO 9002.

Short Tuft

The success of medium tuft surfaces led some manufacturers to continue the trend towards carpets of even shorter tuft. There are increasingly greater numbers of short tuft carpets currently on the market. These contain tufts about 10 mm high, and a stitch density of between 45,000 and 65,000 or more, per square metre. These carpets are still filled with sand but require much less of it. Shorter tufts of fibre remain generally firm, providing greater resistance to the ball when it hits the surface, and consequently, the pace of play on this surface is slower.

The type of play possible on an artificial grass surface depends on the type of grass installed, the amount of infill material, and the level of maintenance the surface receives. It is very important that anyone choosing an artificial grass surface tries all products under consideration.
